Andrew MacRae specializes in commercial and life and annuity insurance litigation, including administrative proceedings, concentrating on life, health and disability insurance matters, including ERISA. Andrew has tried hundreds of jury and non-jury cases, and has argued numerous cases on appeal to various Texas appellate courts, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Fifth Circuit. Andrew is also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law.

Since 2004, Andrew has represented Rodney Reed (in association with the Innocence Project), who is on death row in Texas for a crime he did not commit. Andrew also works with the Innocence Project on other matters relating to immigrant children, and has given CLE presentations on ethically dealing with pro se litigants.

Speeches and Publications

  • On April 8, 2025, Michelle d’Arcambal, Andrew MacRae, and Michael Braun gave a presentation entitled “Can You Get It Back?: Strategies for Recovering Overpayment of Insurance and Annuity Proceeds,” at the 2025 Easten Claims Conference. The presentation focused on recovering overpaid or incorrectly paid insurance benefits.
