Ariadne Staples, who recently joined d’QM, is a senior associate, experienced in both litigation and corporate transactional matters. Having served as in-house counsel at MetLife for several years, she has extensive experience in insurance and reinsurance matters, with a special focus on cross-border reinsurance. At MetLife, she also provided legal counsel on employee benefits insurance, including disability, life, and expatriate medical insurance, as well as FMLA and state disability and leave laws, HIPAA and GDPR. She is experienced in ERISA employee benefits litigation and has successfully argued several federal appeals in ERISA benefits cases.
Prior to joining MetLife, Ms. Staples worked in private practice, first at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, and later at O’Melveny & Myers LLP. She has represented clients in ICC and UNCITRAL arbitrations, a mass tort litigation under the Alien Tort Claims Act, and a variety of litigations and related investigations involving bankruptcy, securities defense, insurance coverage, antitrust and general commercial litigation.
